The patterns in the Ohemaa Collection draw on Akan storytelling and its expression through symbols, figures, and natural forms. Traditional Adinkra symbols are reimagined through scale, rhythm, and color, while newly designed motifs are woven into the collection, expanding this ongoing visual conversation.
Ohemaa
Ohemaa means Queen Mother; she is a figure of feminine authority, wisdom, and continuity. Designed in her honor, this pattern reflects her quiet power and the wisdom passed from one generation to the next.

Nserewa
Panyin & Kakra
The Nserewa pattern draws inspiration from sacred cowrie shells once used as currency across West Africa. Small in form yet rich in meaning, the shells symbolize prosperity, resourcefulness, and the power to create abundance that endures.
Panyin and Kakra are fraternal twins—two expressions born from a single design. Following Ghanaian naming tradition, Panyin is the elder, the pattern that emerged first, while Kakra is the younger, following close behind.
Nsuo
This pattern draws inspiration from Nsuo, the Akan symbol for water—the source and sustaining force of life. Its flowing rhythm evokes renewal, resilience, and continuity, giving form to a simple and enduring truth: wherever water flows, life can take root and flourish.
Fihankra
This pattern draws inspiration from Fihankra, the Akan symbol for the compound house; a home where shelter is belonging and where life is shared. This symbol represents brotherhood, security, and solidarity; it celebrates the enduring strength that arises when a community stands together.
Glimmer
Inspired by sunlight flickering through the trees and the tranquil rhythm of a gentle stream, the Glimmer pattern is a luminous expression of hope for the future. It represents the quiet current flowing through the collection, connecting ancestral wisdom with the promise of what lies ahead.
